We know that being in Operations is often to be misunderstood. You are sometimes perceived as an obstacle to change - The IPD – the Improvement Prevention Department. And yet, the same people who constantly seem to want change – improvement if you will - are the same people who want 100% uptime and not even the hint of inaccuracy or loss of data.
We know how difficult it is to deliver the levels of service required by your internal customers – to meet the expectations (and keep the promises of) your business user while at the same time meeting all the requirements surrounding reporting, compliance and security - both physical, as in your data center, and virtual, in the case of the data you manage. "It is important to win - but it is just as important not to lose..." So while in reality you are anxious to deliver the best possible real world services – we know that you must temper this with the due diligence required in today’s highly regulated information environments. It is important to win – but it is just as important not to lose, either through oversight, by ignorance of statute, or by injudicious deployment of new technologies. |
